How to live a life of contentment

The society and culture that we are born in had propagated this narrative that whatever a person has in life cannot bring about the state of contentment, they explain that the only way a person can reach to this state of mind is for them to work harder in life until they reach the target set by society. But in reality, this type of belief or thinking can only bring about disillusionment and dissatisfaction within the lives of these individuals.
All individuals at some point in their lives are confronted by some form of turmoil, confusion, frustration, sadness, depression, and hopelessness etc. especially when they are faced with suicidal thought.

In the dictionary, contentment is defined as "the state of being mentally and emotionally satisfied with things as they are" although this definition might sound as if it is easy to achieved but, to most individuals it seems totally impossible. Contentment can be linked with the concept of a person being happy and living a satisfactory life, some even acknowledge that contentment is an important component which can help to enable a person to live a well up-lifting life. Contentment is not about having the best in life but, rather about having a positive attitude. It's not about a person desires but, rather about them being in a state of humility and also walks with an optimistic mindset. Socrates rightly said, "he who is not contentment with what he has, would not be contented with what he would like to have". So don't worry about what you don't have but, rather be contented with what you have.

I remember not long ago, I  always worry about everything, such as materialistic things, or what might happen to me tomorrow, or who love or who didn't love me. But, over a period of time, I realize that my worries aren't helping with the solving the issues but instead they only add a great amount of stress to my life. So, by learning from my experiences, I get to understand that I can't change the unchangeable plus it doesn't matter how well or honest a person is, circumstances and an unforeseen event can happen to them at any time. So, I change my perception of life and now I react to life issues in a different manner.

Leo Tolstoy wrote a great quote that says "a quiet secluded life in the country, with the possibility of being useful to people to whom it is easy to do good, and who are not accustomed to having it done to them; then work which one hopes may be of same use; then rest, nature, books, music, love for one's neighbor such is ideal for happiness". A person doesn't need to be rich for them to live a life of contentment.

Paul who was one of the greatest apostles in the bible was a man who suffered a lot of misfortune and mishaps such as being stone on many occasions, thrown in prison, beaten with rods, suffer thirst and hungry also was cold at times (Philippians 4:12-13) but yet, through all of these thorns and thistles, with God's help he was able to overcome and in the end writes "I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in wants. I know can do everything through him who gives me strength.

Here are some things that I do which help me to remain contented, and I hope you can adapt them in your lives.

* Trust God- The greatest antidote to help extinguished fear and attract contentment in your life is to believe and have faith in God. Many people put their trust in other things in life but, in reality, only trusting and believing in God can bring about true contentment. I know, because I am a living witness.

* Humbly yourself- In many instances, an individual will never be able to change some situation, so instead of complaining to other about your problems, just humble yourself, cry if you feel like crying because it also helps to relieve emotional pain

* Enjoy life- Tomorrow is promised to no one so, enjoy today, take yourself to the beach or lake, listen to music, relax under a tree, sit and socialize with friends and families because you only have one life to live so, live it.

Finally, remember never to give up in life. It doesn't matter what your struggles might have been you can overcome them. If you were able to do a research on the struggles in your life, you would be surprised to know that someone else is in a more horrible situation than you.
Lao Tzu wrote a quote that says "be content with what you have; rejoice in the way things are. When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you".

The body is just like any other mechanical machine except that it is more complex, and is created by a supreme God and not an ordinary man. Every mechanical machine when broken has to be repaired by an experienced person but when it comes to the human body it has it own self-repairable mechanism once it is properly maintained.
